Expandable Memory Need more space? Add additional storage capacity with the built-in SD slot and easily play new music, videos, or photos on your player. With SD cards to go, carry virtually unlimited amounts of your digital library anywhere you go. Considerably cheaper than an Ipod of the same capacity, but the software menus are more clunky than the Ipod.

I don't think this model is being made anymore. This is a great all around portable MP3 Player. The Zen includes a few other items like an organizer, a microphone for recording messages, a customizable button, an FM Radio Tuner which allows you to input channel names, customizable menus, a DJ feature that allows to play songs based on rank or amount of times played this is in addition to the normal playlists, genre, artist, etc.

There are a couple of things about the Zen experience that could be nicer. The first is the case. The screen is flush mounted and is made of a strong durable plastic, but it is prone to scratching. The buttons are made of this same plastic and look good, but adding some sort of texture on the navigation square would make it easier to adjust settings when you can't look at the device.

While running, I have found that I am often pushing the customizable button or the menu button when I was attempting to change the volume. The sound output seems low compared to others on the market, as I have to turn the volume to the max setting in order to use this with my car stereo.

But there is plenty of volume with headphones on, it's just not quite up to the task of plugging into another system. One of the main reasons I bought the Zen was the great sound quality. The Zen has an adjustable equalizer as well as several pre-set audio EQ's.

The only output is through the standard 3. The Zen allows for on-the-fly creation of playlists. I find this easier to do than on the Ipod, but still find the process harder than it needs to be. Playlist creation is best left to the computer. The Zen software is very easy to navigate and there are several ways to do everything, so you're not forced to do it the I-tunes way.

One nice feature is the SD Card. Navigation to the SD card is not difficult, but it would be nice if the Zen could handle the songs inside the normal areas. The Zen supports ID3 tagging as well as album cover recognition.

If the MP3 has the image embedded or attached it will display it as well as the other track info when the track is played. Navigation on the Zen is quite easy using the navigation square and back button.

I find this system much easier to use than the Ipod wheel, but this is going to be a personal preference. The Zen has a long battery life. The charge is quick, but not as quick as some other electronic devices I own. I would say it's about the same or slightly faster than other MP3 players. The Zen offers lots of great features for a good price. Unfortunately the Zen will never be able to compete with the Ipod for aftermarket support with car stereos, home theater, etc. But if you're looking for a light weight flash MP3 player with great sound quality, easy to use operation, and tons of features - the Zen 32 is a great choice.
